About T&D Technology

T&D Technology was formed in January 2001 to address issues in sourcing technology and/or novel products, contract research, partner matching and specialist consultancy in the biotechnology, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals and related life sciences industries.

Technology translation, technology transfer and business mentoring are specific services provided, drawing on the first hand experiences of starting business ventures from research ideas and the subsequent business development required.

Technology translation is particularly important in the technology transfer process, as the ability to provide clear communication and generate understanding between partners is vital to identify if any technology has commercial possibilities. Many opportunities have been lost through a lack of understanding.

T&D Technology also works with academics and SME's to develop business plans and to source the correct investors for new technology development and commercialisation.

Project management skills are also available from T&D Technology, particularly where complex, multilevel scientific projects, involving a number of technology partners are involved. In this field, European Union (EU) projects are a particular skill, and assistance in sourcing the correct blend of partners, writing applications, project co-ordination and interfacing with the commission is available.

Staff at T&D Technology have first hand experience in both creating biotechnology businesses and simultaneously working in an academic research environment. This gives T&D Technology an unusual blend of innovation, business strategy and networking capabilities, together with in-depth scientific knowledge in many specialist biotechnology related areas.

We have close professional links with a number of research and development companies covering a wide field of disciplines including biotechnology, enzyme stabilisation, speciality materials production, speciality polymer manufacture and instrument design and manufacture, including advanced sensor instrumentation and applications (biosensors and sensor arrays).

In addition we have close links with a large number of UK and overseas Universities and other
research institutions. In particular biosensor research, enzyme stability, biocatalysis, protein engineering, immobilisation chemistry, novel diagnostics, polymer design and synthesis, mass spectroscopy (proteomics specialties) and phage display, including combinatorial techniques are fields in which we have direct contact with the relevant academic groups.

Having links into both the academic and business communities enables T&D Technology to gather information and knowledge through both academic and industrial routes, including Internet search capabilities in both communities.
